This free, ad-free, and privacy-compliant sound analysis app is specifically designed for scientific education. A comprehensive user manual, numerous experimental guides for acoustics and mechanics experiments, as well as a version for older devices (version 2.2) can be found at www.spaichinger-schallpegelmesser.de. This freeware app features nine windows that can be displayed as single or dual windows:

• Storage Oscilloscope: Displays the sound pressure over time
• Frequency Spectrum (FFT)
• Fundamental frequency of a sound (in Hz) along with the corresponding musical note
• Duo Tone Generator: Simultaneous production of up to two different tones with phase shifts (e.g., for beats)
• Pulse Generator: Generates "pop sounds" (e.g., for measuring sound velocity)
• Noise Level Indicator
• Effective Sound Pressure (in Pa) and Sound Intensity under normal conditions
• Sound Pressure Level (in dB)
• A-weighted Sound Pressure Level (in dB(A))

Additionally, using the provided wave recordings of musical instruments, users can conduct detailed investigations into sound. This collection also features the remarkable overtone singing by Mr. Wolfgang Saus.

The measurements can be saved, opened, and sent as wave files (via Bluetooth, email, etc.). Playback functionality allows users to listen to the sound recording while displaying all recorded values in real-time. Sending data as a CSV file is also supported.

For analyzing musical instruments or voices, the app provides a highly accurate estimation of the fundamental frequency of a sound (maximum deviation of 0.2 Hz). The app additionally displays the musical note and frequency closest to the fundamental frequency, enabling easy and precise tuning of instruments, particularly guitars.

Graphical representations can be zoomed in and out as needed. The "Quick Advanced Measurement" option enables recordings up to 60 seconds long that can be manually analyzed in detail afterward.

It should be noted that while sound level measurements (including effective sound pressure and sound intensity) may not be entirely accurate due to built-in microphones lacking consistent frequency response and omnidirectional characteristics, they can still be calibrated using one-point calibration. However, this does not improve the quality of the internal microphones. To achieve more precise results, it is advisable to use an external measurement microphone. Nonetheless, these sound level values are beneficial for physics education as they help students grasp the magnitude of different sounds and understand the logarithmic relationship between sound pressure and sound level or sound intensity and sound level under normal conditions.
